Legal Inc takes account of corporate sector

July 31, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

Litigation support and technology specialist Legal Inc has announced the appointment of Stacey Bedford to the role of Corporate Account Manager. Due to continuing strong growth and demand for their full service offering, the newly created post will cover both business development and client relationship management across the consulting, accounting and commercial sectors.

A seasoned sales professional with nearly two decades’ blue-chip experience at IBM, one of Stacey’s primary tasks will be the promotion of early case assessment as Legal Inc aims to help clients reduce their in-house costs and mitigate the risks associated with litigation.

The appointment comes as Legal Inc looks to capitalize on an unprecedented uplift in enquiries and instructions from the corporate world. Director Lisa Burton explains: “Largely because of the tumultuous economic events of the last 12-18 months, we have seen a huge surge of interest across our whole service range, from large scanning and production projects to multi-jurisdictional file review. Stacey has come on board not only to consolidate these current opportunities but to also build a strong future pipeline as emerging disciplines such as early case assessment and litigation readiness start to gain ground.”

Copitrak go head-to-head and get Nabarro nod

July 17, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

Copitrak Systems has rounded off a strong quarterly performance with the signing of another top 100 law firm. Having recently concluded deals with Simmons and Simmons and Winckworth Sherwood, the cost recovery specialist has now been appointed by Nabarro to deliver a comprehensive solution across the firm’s London and Sheffield offices.

Nabarro selected Copitrak after completing extensive and exhaustive in-house trials of the market leading products, pitching competing technologies and suppliers against one another in a number of head-to-head pilot projects. Copitrak scored consistently highly when it came to ease of use, functionality and flexibility, with the intuitive SmartBar interface highlighted as the stand-out feature of the system.

A phased roll-out will see an initial implementation of Copy, Print, Secure Print, Scan and Editor modules, complete with proximity card readers; this will be followed by the deployment of Print Room, Phone and Mobile for Blackberry, bringing recording, recovery and tracking capability to every element of disbursement and expense management.

Commenting on the selection process, Andrew Powell, Director of IT at Nabarro, said: “We spent a significant amount of time looking at all potential solutions for our cost and print management requirements. Whilst it was immediately apparent that several solutions in the market offered significant improvements over our incumbent system, we chose to go down the route of a very detailed “under the bonnet” trial as I am convinced we will see very real benefit from a successful implementation. It is much more than cost recovery for us – with the right user interface in place, there is opportunity to improve business processes and save significant amounts of paper.”

Legal Inc scans new horizons

July 17, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

Litigation support consultancy Legal Inc has announced a major upgrade of its premium scanning service, with a six-figure investment program trebling capacity. The move comes in response to growing demand for an offering that is well regarded for its quality control, precision and speed of turnaround.

Legal Inc director Lisa Burton comments: “We have never sought to compete with the high-volume scanning shops in the market, and ours is still a modest operation by comparison, but clients come to us for when they need the very optimum in terms of output and process – clearly defined workflow, technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, full audit trails and movement logs, all combining to deliver a complete and coherent set of scanned material. This significant up-scaling of premises, people and technology will enable us to handle not just more work but more complex jobs while maintaining the same high values and standards.”

That those values and standards are class-leading would seem to be confirmed by the fact that Legal Inc’s scanning reputation is already travelling beyond the litigation sector – a department within Oxford University recently entrusted the consultancy with a project to scan the scholarly catalogue of an ancient papyrological archive!

e-know.net prune costs with concurrent usage pricing model

July 10, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

Managed service specialist e-know.net is introducing a new pricing model to encourage more law firms to consider the merits of outsourcing their IT provision.

Whereas contracts in the industry are typically calculated on a total user basis, e-know.net will now factor in concurrent connections, offering firms the potential of significant savings at a time of continued economic strain. For the first time, pricing will reflect actual usage: if a customer only has twenty out of thirty staff logging into their systems every day, then the pricing will reflect this.

The new model recognises that today’s working and staffing patterns are not as fixed as they once were, with recessionary pressures combining with established concepts such as job sharing, flexi-time, part-time, freelance, mobile and home working to bring an unprecedented degree of ‘flex’ to office numbers.

Nigel Redwood, e-know.net’s managing director, is acutely aware that firms are still very focused on overheads and is keen to deliver savings where possible. “There are so many benefits to be had from the managed service platform that typically the decision to switch is rarely based on cost alone. However, these are not normal times and the credit crunch has necessarily made people more cost aware and price sensitive. By adopting a pricing structure that reflects concurrent usage, we can offer up the same compelling service while delivering even better value for money.”
