Copitrak toasts sales success with a double

May 29, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

Cost recovery specialist Copitrak is continuing to defy the downturn with the announcement of two major projects for London law firms.

In its biggest deployment yet utilising the Canon MEAP platform, Copitrak will deliver embedded print, copy, scan, telephony and mobile solutions to Olswang. The Copitrak software will be integrated with eCopy, bringing the convenience of single sign-on and enabling the passing of user and client/matter details automatically into the firm’s Open Text DM5 system. Print capture will also link into Open Text, with auto detection of mono vs colour to help police printing costs.

Elsewhere, Copitrak is undertaking one of its largest upgrades in recent years for long-time customer Simmons & Simmons.  The modernization of Simmons’ global cost recovery infrastructure has seen systems consolidated and centralized in London to better serve its operations across the UK, Europe and the Middle East; projected improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness will form part of the firm’s on-going drive to streamline fixed operational costs. In addition, existing Diamond terminals are to be replaced with eCopy ScanStations running embedded Copitrak software, providing the full range of print, ‘secure print’, copy, scan, telephony and mobile functionality.

Commenting on these positive developments Copitrak’s Damian Jeal said: “In the current climate it’s always a great boost to be able to deliver major implementations for existing customers but it’s particularly gratifying to win competitive tenders too, especially with such a cutting-edge deployment for Olswang. Our acquisition and retention rates hopefully demonstrate that Copitrak is indeed the cost recovery partner of choice for law firms worldwide.”

Virtualisation takes to the cloud with InTechnology

May 14, 2009 · Posted in Press releases · Comment

With the benefits of virtualisation now well established, InTechnology has launched a new hosted virtual server offering designed to make it easier than ever to align computing resources with fluctuating demands.

The next-generation Virtual Server Service (VSS) will bring radical improvements to the speed and ease of provisioning; to the flexibility and breadth of choice around specifications and storage; and the degree of client control over their hosted environment.

At the heart of VSS is the Self-Provisioning Portal (SPP), a secure, intuitive web interface that allows users complete freedom to orchestrate every aspect of their hosted virtual server set-up.  They can define the grade and number of virtual machines they want to bring on line; specify storage levels and add capacity at any time; take machines off-line when they are no longer needed; reactivate them when needs dictate; even delete them permanently. This straightforward configuration utility translates into new servers being ready for customer development in less than two hours, and changes to existing servers being made seamlessly in the background.

The on-demand, scalable and variable nature of VSS is seen as an optimum combination for those with changing needs who want to be able to up- or down-shift their IT capability and capacity accordingly. Flexible per month per server pricing will minimise waste and costs as users move to accurately match resources to requirements. They will be able to:

•    Add more servers in times of peak load
•    Add more servers to test upgrades or new applications
•    Add more servers to test restores or Disaster Recovery policy
•    Add more power in times of peak load
•    Provision servers ready for the unexpected
•    Reduce power in times of low load
•    Remove servers in times of low load

Commenting on the rationale behind VSS, Richard Quine, InTechnology’s director of product management, says: “VSS is very much part of our drive to promote the concept of ‘cloud computing with control’. We want users to be able to take full advantage of our cloud-based services confident in the knowledge that they retain the mastery and management of their environment. We – as the service provider- remain accountable for delivery and the hosted platform offers a robust and risk-free route forward.  With virtual servers allowing a more proactive, cost-effective ‘streamlining’ of IT resources, it seemed a sensible next step to take the technology into the cloud and unlock the benefits offered by VSS.”
